Motorcycle Rides

Home Away From Home

This place was absolutely amazing from the room, the views, the staff, and the amenities. We came in the middle of all the rain storms and lucked out with a weekend of no rain. Our condo was just like a little apartment with everything you need. All you need to bring is food. They provide you with so much to do I didn’t even mind not having phone service. Woody went out of his way to make sure we were happy during our stay. This is definitely on our vacation list to come back to.

Things to do in Hill Country

For wonderful views of wildflowers, expansive open fields, and sun-kissed rivers, plan on going on some Hill Country motorcycle rides. The Hill Country continues to be  a biker-friendly community with several fun motorcycle roads and trails listed below near River Inn Resort:

Good Ol’ Texas Loop

Good Ol’ Texas Loop is a 150-mile ride from Bandera to Fredericksburg, making a wide arc toward the west. You’ll loop back over Hunt, TX on Interstate 10. There are many cafes and points of interest on this route and fantastic Hill Country scenery.

Gruene-Fredericksburg-Bandera Loop

This intense loop spans 239 miles with smooth pavement and plenty of twists and turns. You’ll enjoy stunning and diverse scenery with the rolling hills, trees, rivers, wildflowers, and farmland. There are plenty of shops, wineries, and places to stay along this route.

Highway 16

Slight southeast of us is Kerrville and a great starting point if you want to ride along Highway 16 down toward San Antonio or up north toward Fredericksburg. Highway 16 also connects with the Twisted Sisters route and provides plenty of options for stopping and stretching your legs at shops or local cafes.

Highway 39

For riders not looking for too many curves but still want a fun and scenic ride, Highway 39 is a great alternative and very easy to access from River Inn Resort. A unique roadside attraction you’ll spot is the “Stonehenge II” in Texas, a two-thirds replica in Ingram.

Kerrville to Comfort

Take a ride along Cypress Creek on the Kerrville to Comfort route. This ride is a short 18-mile stretch with a few twists but nothing too technical. You’ll enjoy views of the creek, rolling hills, and ranches.

Texas Pig Path Ride

Texas Pig Path Ride is a shorter 60-mile stretch of road southeast of Hunt that rides through Comfort, TX. The ride has a few turns and inclines but promises wonderful views of flowers and open pastures as you follow Turtle Creek to the Guadalupe River.

Twisted Sisters

The sisters’ route is comprised of Ranch Roads 335, 336, and 337 as they sprawl out west from Kerrville. This is a popular route with bikers and spans a total distance of 220 miles as you ride by the rolling foothills and twisting roads. If you do the whole route, you’ll pass Lost Maples State Park, Garner State Park, the Lone Star Motorcycle Museum, and the Frio Canyon Motorcycle Stop (a great spot for a break and a cold drink).

For a historical look at bikes, take your bike out for a ride to the Lone Star Motorcycle Museum, open March through November on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.  Admission is only six dollars per adult or active military four dollars per person. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There are also a few biker rallies in Texas for motorcycle enthusiasts.

Like any road trip, it’s important to be prepared and to pack accordingly. Under the hot summer sun, it’s extremely important to stay hydrated on your ride and bring adequate sun protection. With the number of ranches and farms in the Texas Hill Country, keep a lookout for animals like cattle that occasionally cross the roads. Deer are also another hazard for bikers with dawn and dusk being prime time for deer to be out. Please heed any warning sign posted on your ride such as hairpin turns or low water crossings. Have a safe and enjoyable ride!

Beautiful view

This is a hidden gem of a place. From the road it doesn’t look like much but the view from the rooms is amazing. Pristine river access and manicured landscape make this place a little slice of heaven. Crystal clear water and free use of canoes is another reason why we will be back to this gorgeous place. We celebrated our anniversary here and were pleasantly surprised with all this place had to offer.
