Epic location. Very kind people. Older rooms but superb grilling areas, boats, noodles (for swimming or sword play – kidding), swimming area. I hope to go back often. It reminds me of the original Dirty Dancing movie. I created memories I’ll cherish forever!

If you like antique shopping, you will love what Texas Hill Country Shopping brings to the table or in this case—shop. Full of history and operated by charismatic shop owners alike, find far more than you ever bargained for in the abundance of antique shops around. Below are some of our favorites that are worth checking out during your stay at River Inn Resort.
Ingram – 20 minutes
About 20 minutes away in Ingram is Southwestern Elegance, complete with a showroom, warehouse, and ladies boutique. Southwestern Elegance has a large collection of antique home décor, jewelry, gifts, furniture, and women’s apparel.
Comfort – 45 minutes
The Architectural Mercantile is a great stop if you’re renovating your home or just want some decorative pieces to spice up your style.
The Comfort Antique Mall is in the heart of the historic district and houses about 30 antique dealers. The collectors show off their items from the Colonial era on up to the 1950s.The mall plays lively 1950s tunes as you peruse the various sellers’ offerings. The mall is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday to Saturday and is open until 6 p.m. on Saturday.
Comfort also adds a bit of flair to its antique offerings with the Annual Comfort Village Spring Antiques Show, generally in late April to early May. Collectors and sellers gather in the park to shop or sell their pieces. Some of the dealers are from out of the area, which makes this event a nice opportunity to see pieces from different regions and time periods.
If you want to take a bit of Texas home with you, stop by the Downright Texas Antiques shop at Cypress Creek. Specializing in furnishings and art, this shop is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday and closed on Sunday and Monday.
Fredericksburg – one hour
Over in Fredericksburg, you’ll find the Lone Star Antique Mall, one of the largest antique malls in Texas Hill Country at 4,200 square feet of retail space. Approximately 30 vendors showcase their collections and timeless pieces, ranging from art to turquoise jewelry. The mall is open Sunday to Friday from10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Carol Hicks Bolton Antiqüités features an impressive selection of furniture, lighting, trunks, and oddities for an antique collector. The shop is open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
