Experience nature while hiking in Hill Country at a local’s favorite at Lost Maples during your stay at River Inn Resort!
Named a National Natural Landmark in 1980, the 2,208-acre park has picnic sites, camping, hiking trails, wildlife and birds. The terrain here can be steep and rugged, but the views of the limestone canyons, grasslands, springs, and clear streams that surround this natural area are worth the hike.
Be on the lookout for wild animals that inhabit the area like gray fox, armadillo, raccoons, rock squirrels, javelin and white-tailed deer. All of which are frequently spotted by park visitors.
Cool off from the heat and explore the West Trail at a lower elevation than the East Trail—next to a stream and foliage providing shade.
Be sure to bring plenty of water, hiking boots and a walking stick is recommended for climbing up and down the steep trails more easily.
Visitors brag about the big tooth maple trees and amazing colors of the maple leaves as they change in fall. Located in just a 30-minute drive from River Inn Resort, Lost Maples is an easy destination to witness the beauty of Texas Hill Country in its natural element.
